Roused by the energy of punk and the spirit of the blues, I had a record contract early on in my career, was lead singer (for a few weeks) of a very well known 80's band and played leading roles in West End musical 'Hot Stuff', Sondheim's 'Into the Woods', Frankenfurter in 'The Rocky Horror Show' among others. Music has had an important influence on me.

These days from a performance perspective, I focus on the spoken word, as that's where I feel most rewarded. However music still inspires much about my approach to character and acting.

I continue to get my music fix writing songs in the blues/rock/pop genre as well as singing Delta blues by the likes of Howlin Wolf, Jimmy Reed or Freddie King...examples of both kinds at the bottom of this page. In recent time I've worked in collaboration with friend Ronnie Paris who produces and/or co-writes and also Pete King, a fellow Manc with whom I go way way back.
